Another great landscape to see is the Valdez Glacier. On any somewhat clear day you can look up into the valley and see the receding glacier. It was once the only passage out of the area and has seen a lot of history. It no longer reaches the valley but where it once did is this beautiful cold lake. You can drive right up to the lake, get out and climb on some of the icebergs still floating there. In the first picture below you can see where the glacier was in the crevice between mountains. Make sure and where a jacket as this area tends to be colder then the surrounding areas.
My family and I returned to the glacier a couple weeks later on a beautiful day and so here are a couple more photos.
