My family and I decided to head out for a hike and we chose Thunderbird Falls. This hike is just north of Eagle River, AK and is relatively short at 2 miles roundtrip. It winds through the forest on a nice trail(for us it was pretty muddy but we expected that with almost a month of rainfall before our hike). The hike itself is beautiful and the falls at the end of the hike doesn’t disappoint either. When you get to the falls you can choose to stay on the upper trail that will lead you to an overlook of the falls themselves, or you can take the lower trail down to the creek. My family and I chose to stay on the upper trail. I can imagine that this hike and falls would be specatular in both the fall and winter, may have to wonder back this way then.
